
| "The Brigantine Sultana" THE BRIGANTINE SULTANA is a close replica of the original Sultana built in 1767 at the Benjamin Hollowell shipyards in Boston, Massachusetts. Sultana first distinguished herself as a dispatch carrier between the American colonies and other points in the North Atlantic. Later purchased by the Royal Navy, she continued to serve the British as an armed dispatch vessel for many years. THE BRIGANTINE SULTANA, following over six years labor by her principals and over fifty youth volunteers and crew members, stands replica of the original vessel. Re-learning all but forgotten skills of Eighteen century shipbuilders, the fittings and spars were custom made in the old style and has over 5,000 feet of rigging which was painstakingly tarred, wormed, parceled and served in traditional fashion. She has been around the Bay Area for over 40 years and has been featured repeatedly on the National and International Cable News Network (CNN) and ABC, CBS< NBC affiliates. The Brigantine Sultana has been featured in CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates featuring the ship’s youth sailing programs, benefit events and Tall Ship event participation The Sultana has been active in the Bay Area’s celebration of Columbus Day at the Fisherman’ s Wharf, Opening Day at the Bay and Lighted Boat Parade during the Christmas Holidays Over a hundred “Kids Pirate Parties” have been conducted aboard The Brigantine Sultana as well as its infamous Halloween Parties, Weddings on Sail, Dockside Single Parties and Holiday Events, Corporate and Sales Charters and Non-Profit Events |
